Thorpe Wood Care Home in Peterborough provides residential and dementia care for the elderly.
It’s a new 50 bed care home which opened in early February 2019 and is located next to Thorpe Wood Golf Course and Ferry Meadows. It’s part of the Peterborough Care Group which has been a family run business since 1984.
CaterFix were delighted to install their brand-new kitchen which will help to produce the varied menus and diets at the new home. The company Stated, “We have had CaterFix equipment previously in our other homes and we wanted to extend this efficiency to Thorpe Wood Care Home as this was a proven combination of equipment and layout”.

At CaterFix we have a team of inhouse CAD designers who worked with Peterborough Care to ensure the new kitchen would meet all their needs. We offer superb 3D visuals, detailed M&E and kitchen plan drawings, we also ensured they had all the technical details required to pursue their project quickly. Our team worked closely with Peterborough Care to make sure their new kitchen met all the needs of the staff who would be working there. We wanted the kitchen to flow nicely making cooking in there as efficient as possible. Philip advised “From planning to installation, it was all trouble free. Quality of service is our main priority and that is why we always choose CaterFix”.
The kitchen is fitted with full stainless-steel fabrication for all their work tops and storage. For cooking they have two Rational Combi ovens one 10 grid and one 6 grid, double fryers, two Lincat induction hobs, a Samsung microwave and a Lincat hot water boiler. But not forgetting all the refrigeration they have on site from the Fosters undercounter fridge at the heart of the kitchen to the multiple Fosters slimline upright fridges and freezers they have in the storage room. We couldn’t have done this kitchen without the right commercial equipment from our well-known UK suppliers. Ajay Marjara a director at Peterborough Care commented, “Once planning permission had been granted to build Thorpe Wood Care Home involving CaterFix to commission the kitchen was a no brainer.”
